Dear Pastor,
I am writing this letter to you in our thirty fifth year of the ministry during which I have spent twenty-eight and half years serving as a pastor. I spent five years in evangelism with my wife and four of our five children traveling the United States as the Smeltz Family Evangelistic Team. We have now been on deputation for nineteen months.
Today, all of our children are married and we have ten precious grandchildren. Our youngest son is married to a Ukrainian young woman who loves the Lord. For years, I have felt the calling and challenge to work overseas in training national pastors. We have had the oppurtunity to go to Indonesia, Korea, & the Ukraine and minister to national pastors in the past three years.
On December 10, 2006, in the morning service we informed our church that I was resigning as full time pastor and would help the church seek a new pastor. Our last Sunday was January 14, 2007 and on May 27, 2007, Susan and I joined Bethel Baptist Church in Amherst, Virginia. Brother Dave Peters is the pastor and we have been friends for over thirty years. I am looking forward to the future as we reach the world for Christ.
Our goal in going is to train, disciple and assist national pastors in the planting of local churches. We will do this through colleges, seminaries and old and new ministries, which where established in Europe and Asia. We have contacted the leaders of these institutions and ministries and they are willing to work with us. Do to Visa regulations we will embed ourselves with these pastors and nationals on a short-term-basis. Our team will hold evangelistic meetings, discipleship conferences, and soul winning conferences in these countries.
In the past thirty-five years I have assisted in establish twenty churches across America and the world.
The Lord has also used our family to established five churches from scratch. Within these churches, I have had the privilege of establishing mission programs.
Two years ago I applied to Central Missionary Clearinghouse and was accepted in October of 2006. Dr. David Ralston of Christ to the Nations helped us in our preparations. I have enclosed a list of pastors in whose churches we have presented our ministry. Please feel free to call these pastors and ask them about our ministry. Our presentation is about twenty minutes long and I would love to come and present it in your church. We are now at 50% of our deputation needs. In the past nineteen months I have also had the privlege of presenting "What is Islam all about conference" in many churches. It is a four day conference. I also have preached many revivals and been in many mission conferences. We are now working on our 2009 schedule. Please pray about us coming and presenting our ministry in your church.
